Coming back to the topic, Erased/Boku dake ga Inai Machi is the anime that everyone said would be the Anime of the year all thanks to its solid plot. Upon completing the Anime i would that the Anime is something you should not underestimate but i felt that it would have been much better.
But before reading this article any further i suggest you should check the previous articles on the Anime. Because i will be summing up the review from the episode 1-5 and will give you the detailed review from the episode 6. The links for the article are given below :-

Boku dake ga Inai Machi Complete Review and Finale
From the episode 1-5 we see that Fujinuma Satoru a struggling Mangaka, is termed as murderer, for murdering his own mother. While running away from the police he accidentally comes back in time when he was in elementary school. During that time his classmate “Hinazuki Kayo” went missing and was later found dead. Satoru starts to suspect that the one who murdered is his mother might be the one behind the incident. Satoru desperately tries his best to save Kayo.
During episode 2-5 we see Satoru’s struggle, but in fifth episode he fails as he watched kayo’s mother throwing her Kayo’s belongings into the garbage he gets convinced that Hinazuki Kayo is dead and due to that trauma he returns back to the time he came from at this time we get one revelation regarding Satoru’s time traveling powers and that is he can’t control his power at his will but there is a need for certain condition for his powers to activate and that condition is trauma, once Satoru goes through extreme traumatic condition he can go back and forth through the time.
So once he is back through the time he starts to investigate about the killer and stumbles on the article regarding Hinazuki Kayo, in that article the date of her date was different. Because of that he is convinced that whatever he did back in past changed the future he lived in. Now he just has to go back to the past once again and save her but he didn’t know how to go back although he was aware of the fact that once he changed the past he cannot return to his original time but as a matter of speaking that didn’t bother him at all.
In his original time Satoru ask his manager from his workplace to help him but soon he realizes that manager wants to turn him over to the police. He runs from that place and “Airi” helps him, Airi soon realizes that manager wants t Satoru to be captured by police and she gets angry punches him. (Which was one of the best scene) Unaware of the fact that Killer is after Airi too Satoru felt that he can stay safe as but soon realizes that Airi was targeted as he saves her from dying. After that Satoru is captured by Police and was taken into custody but he wished strongly to go back into the time and change everything and his wished was fulfilled Satoru was back into the past and was more than ever determined to save Kayo.
This time instead of doing things all alone Satoru decides to take help of his friends Kenya and Hiromi, they keep away Hinazuki at a hideout for 2 days without telling anybody where she is. Later Satoru finds that the hideout belongs to the killer and so they make decision to move her away and Satoru brings Kayo at his home and then finds out his mother was aware of everything. Satoru’s mother urges Kayo to stay at her home and Kayo agrees to it.
This episode was the most emotional episode of the series. We see Kayo living life normally as any kid should live and as a matter of fact Kayo starts crying in this episode when she remembers how hellish her life was compared to the one night she spend at Satoru’s home.
After that Satoru and his mother confronted Hinazuki kayo’s mother and with the help of people from child consultation center Kayo’s custody was handed over to her grandmother. With this Satoru saved one target but next two are still in danger. One of them was his classmate Hiromi and other was a girl named Nakanishi Aya, Since Hiromi was his classmate it was easier for Satoru to save him as for Nakanishi Aya, Satoru was in problem as he didn’t know how to approach her, but he went with his friends Hiromi and Kenya and they soon became friends. Since Hiromi and Aya started to spend time with Satoru and his friends those two were out of the target list.
But one more classmate of Satoru “Yanagihara Misato” was being targeted the reason for that is simple, Killer was targeting kids who stays alone or are lonely Kayo, Hiromi and Aya were kids who used to stay alone but now one more of his classmate became lonely and Satoru decides to save her but instead he gets caught since that was trapped set by the killer itself.
Satoru realizes that his teacher “Yashiro Gaku” is the killer but as far as its concerned about the identity it was predictable. What i meant is as i watched the series i became convinced that the teacher is the killer, since all the actions he took were almost predictable but creators tried to keep him out of suspicions by showing him that he is a good guy that’s trying to save Hinazuki Kayo. He tries to kill Satoru but Staoru survives and goes into coma within that time 15 years passes away. And Satoru wakes up from coma after 15 years.
He meets his friends Kenya and Hiromi, He also meets Kayo who is now married to Hiromi and and a mother of small baby boy. Satoru’s memories were lost due to coma but he gradually starts to remember as he meets his old friends. During that moment Yashiro also comes to meet him, since he thought Satoru is still suffering from memory loss but in last episode Satoru reveals that his memories are back and confronts Yashiro on the terrace of the Hospital building and then Yashiro was caught.
Also i liked how Satoru and Airi met under the same bridge from where they got separated! It was very heartwarming end.
Particularly i thought, it would have been much better if Anime was of 25 episodes instead of 12 episodes. That’s because there were two questions which were left without an answer and explanation explanation. First was – Who saved Fujinuma Satoru? and the second was – Why did Satoru teacher turned into murderer? We get those answer in Manga but for those who have not read the Manga this is like incomplete story. Also there were too many scenes which were different than what they showed in Manga. So Anime was 50% similar to Manga and 50% different!
A well thought solid story which contains strong characters and each and every one of them played their part well. It never felt that any single characters were left out.
Everything was fine till episode 9 but the story picked quite high pace from the episode 10. To be honest i felt that they rushed the ending as there were few things that needed an explanation and from my point of view they were important.
Seriously this was one of the best Anime of the year 2016 and i will recommend everyone to watch it! As for the explanation of those two questions i mentioned above i think this series should get a OVA episodes one which showed side story of Yashiro sensei and why he became murderer and other episode which showed what happened between 15 years of time span when Satoru was in coma.
