Boku No Hero Academia – Finally the series we were waiting for came, this was the series i was waiting for since last year and today the episode 1 was finally out. Everyone believed that Boku No Hero Academia was similar to One Punch Man but the episode 1 itself proved that the series is going to be an insane one and that too completely different than One Punch Man.
What’s a hero? For Izuku Midoriya, the answer to that question has always been simple: “Everything I want to be!” And who is the ultimate hero? Well, the legendary All Might, of course. All Might is the number one ranked hero and also the “Symbol of Peace” in the world. Not in his wildest dreams could Izuku have imagined that he would soon cross paths with his childhood hero…
In Boku no Hero Academia, status is governed by “Quirks”—unique superpowers which develop in childhood. But, unfortunately, hero otaku Midoriya “Deku” Izuku never had a Quirk. That is, until he met All Might, the greatest hero of all time.
Izuku’s transformation from dreamer to superhero begins at Yuuei Academy, the top-ranked hero-training high school in Japan. Izuku is on cloud nine when he’s accepted to this prestigious academy, especially when he finds out that All Might is one of the teachers. What surprises does this mighty academy offer? And will Izuku be able to keep up with his elite classmates?

Boku No Hero Academia Episode 1 Review
Since everyone was comparing this series with One Punch Man i will first start explaining how this series is exactly different from One Punch Man. The Principle of being the greatest hero is that you have to be the weakest of them all even for Saitama from One Punch Man this principle never changed. He trained and attained an ultimate power that nobody can rival. Boku No Hero Academia focuses greatly on this “ONE” principle.
The story of the series is set in an alternate world where humans are born with superpowers, in some humans the powers starts to manifest from the age 4. Because of which superhumans has became a normal daily life thing. But its obvious that if the world goes super then the humanity will be divided in 3 factions.
- People who want to live normally despite having powers.
- People who want to control the world or commit all the crimes using that power (Super villains).
- People who want to help others using their powers and maintain world piece (Super heroes).
The main character Izuku also known as Deku is a guy who belongs to none of the above 3 categories. In fact he belongs to the category that is about to die yes the category of “Normal People” who have no powers. Because of this he was often bullied by his classmates from time to time, but still for Deku being a superhero is one of his greatest dream ever. His role model is “All Might” the number 1 hero of the entire world.
One day Deku get caught by a super villain (Slime) unable to defend himself he find that he is saved by none other than his role model “All Might!” Deku suddenly finds himself that he is lost of words as he was standing in front of his childhood hero All Might. As All Might leaves Deku Tags along with him and ask him that “Even though he has no power could he become a hero like you?” and that’s where the episode ends.
So basically this was the complete overview of the events that happened in episode 1 and personally i liked that how the made the main character weak, if they did not mess up it will be fun to see how they show the character development. But i think this will certainly become a series greater than One Punch Man and there are many reasons for this to happen.
- The plot of the series is consistent and deep.
- Series emphasise on comedy but it equally emphasises on the story too.
- Its just the first episode but i think the plot is lot darker then it seems.
- We have a protagonist who will grow stronger with training and we will be able to see his growth
- Series has Well thought and solid story.
I took this opportunity to take a good look at Manga and found that series is following Manga head to head and toe to toe. Well at least that how the first episode was even the artwork was close to the Manga. Since the Episode 1 is based on the 90% of the first chapter, the remaining 10% i.e the end of the first chapter is moved to Episode 2. So that means the Episode 2 will start from the remaining 10%. With this its confirmed that the series had a slow start so there is one thing which is been bugging me ever since i watched the episode. What if they rushed the series? Because Boku No Hero Academia is going to have a run time of 13 episodes. So it will be better if they did not rush the series
Animation and Character Designs
The Animation quality is seriously good and since the artwork is similar as it was shown in Manga it makes the series even better.
This was only the first episode but we got quite a brief look into the world of Boku No Hero Academia and the life of the Main Character Deku. Although the episode was little slow but i get a feeling that from episode 2 it will pick up the pace but still am curious how much part the series will cover, since the series will have run time of 13 episodes will they maintain the steady pace or going to rush it?
