The above tweet translates to – “TV Anime Orange Finale ~Linking to the Future~ 1-Hour Special” Will feature the 13th episode which is also the final episode of the series. Followed by a talk program segment starring with six cast members.
Takano started the Manga in Shueisha’s Magazine in 2012 but later moved on to Futabasha in 2013 which was Seinen Monthly Action Magazine. The Manga already ended in the august issue of the Magazine and it’s reported that the Manga sold over 4 Million copies.
One of the major reason i think they decided to do a one hour special is that a short Anime usually ends in 8-10 episodes if it extends it will have a run time of 12 or 13 episodes not more than that. If orange were to follow that traditional rule the story would have taken 2 more episodes to end i.e the series would have ended in 14 episodes total. Considering this thing in mind the producers and directors and staff members must have decided to end the Anime series with one hour special episode.
Similar to what the producers, directors and staff members of Kekkai Sensen did.
