Many of us have a unreachable dream of living in Japan so that we can get access to all things related to Anime Manga Light Novel just like the Japanese fans have. So lets discuss them!

There are many struggles that fans from international community has to go through although among them these are the top 10 struggles anime fans face in international community.

01. You have to wait for Subtitled episodes as you don’t know Japanese

Well as you are aware of the fact that there are legal streaming sites like Crunchyroll and Daisuki that lets you watch Anime in English subtitles. But there are some anime series which are not available for legal streaming, hence majority of us resort to third party streaming website which are not legal, and boy they take lot of time to bring out the subtitled version of episodes.

The recent example is Dragon ball super, Just now it was announced that Dragon ball super is available form legal streaming but before that fans have to wait for a day for the subtitled version of the episode. So basically the anime episode use to release on Saturday and fans used to watch it on Sunday.

02. Watching anime and reading subtitle together is tough

No matter how skilled or experienced you are in reading the subtitles and watching the Anime together, there are some moments where you miss a particular scene and you have to go back and watch that thing. Well it still happens with me!

03. We don’t get to watch movies in theaters

If any new movie releases we have to wait for almost one and half year until its available on the internet to watch or download in High quality. Yes you read that right, because anime movies don’t stream in theaters majority of countries so fans have no choice but to wait. This one and half year long cliffhanger is so brutal that it almost kills us inside.

04. No stores to buy Manga or other stuffs, Online stores are not reliable

Majority of countries don’t have stores to buy Manga or anime or some other stuffs. Online stores are not that reliable. Whenever you try to buy Manga you will find out that one or two volumes are missing and on top of it they are not arranged in order. Its costly to buy Manga online. There are not much accessories and those others which are available, we hardly get any broad options to choose any merchandise according to our choice from the available ones. Also majority of online shops ship only to selected countries.

05. No access to series fan events and rare convention experience

Anime conventions are rare thing for us, Some countries don’t have anime conventions and some countries which have conventions are all related Marvel and DC comics. Things related to anime are less, also we don’t have chance to visit anime conventions every year. I remember the last time i visited was in 2013 and after that never got the chance. Same thing happens with series fans event.

06. Streaming anime? Slow internet is there to stop you!

Most of the anime fans from the international community watch anime via internet, because we don’t get to watch anime on TV and there are three main reasons for that

  1. Parents or relatives are there to scold you
  2. No Anime channels on the TV
  3. Parents have to watch TV on your time to watch anime

That’s why for us internet is the best place to watch anime, but we suffer from slow internet speed and buffering! Fast internet is costly.

07. Downloading anime? No disk space!

Majority of anime fans from international community prefer downloading anime series and after that they watch the downloaded series. However majority of them suffer because of low disc space and hence they are forced to delete some of the anime series to make space for new ones.

08. General license shenanigans and Region Blocking!

We make accounts on legal anime streaming website but majority of us don’t get access to the anime series because of region blocking. Like why man? Like some or the other anime is accessible to North america and Canada and rest of them are blocked! Same thing happens with licenses. The region blocking also works on DVD and BluRay discs, we import them only to find out that we can’t play them.

09. No official release or delay of official release in other countries

Some countries don’t get official release of anime and manga and other things related to them, While in some countries the official release are delayed! As Japan does not want to encourage reverse importation since foreign releases are cheaper!

10. Not much light novels are available on the internet

Once the light novel get licensed the translations are stopped, Even if translations are continued its hard to find a properly translated novel. Hence we don’t get greater access to the light novels.
