Keijo Anime Review – More than meets the eye!! [Season 01]

Keijo Anime Review – So during my first impression on the Keijo Anime, i did mentioned that i won’t watch this series and won’t write a review. However, Keijo is the Anime that forced me to break this rule of mine! I am the type of guy who like decent stuff and prefer things that has some legitimate reasoning behind.

Its quite obvious that Keijo didn’t meet that criteria, because the series has an absurd water sport where girls fight each other using butt and boobs on a floating water platform trying to push each other into the water where the last one standing will win! However, there is more to this show, other than butt and boobs and you won’t realize that until you watch the completely despite the fact that those are the main key elements of this show. But it makes the show enjoyable.

Keijo Anime Review

At first, Keijo will make you think that how come a person can come up with such absurd concept, but here is my point – If things/concept are more ridiculous and absurd, it will make people even more curious. People will willing watch that thing to see how its gonna end. Unfortunately that in a human nature and Keijo is the anime that will pry on this human nature. Well there are some people who will control themselves but the numbers will be more like this – 70% – will watch the anime and 30% won’t watch the anime.

So the 70% of those people who are going to watch this anime, Keijo will take them on a ridiculous ride of laughter and WTF moments. But the whole point of this show lies in the process of making people take the things happening in this show seriously, and those are the things which are absolutely not worthy of being taken seriously. We watch ecchi anime and we don’t get serious while watching them.

Although now many ecchi anime creators are trying to make their viewers more serious and they don’t think ecchi is something that just incorporated into anime so that it can sell. Creators are utilizing the ecchi element in expressing their point of views and they are trying to show people something that they just usually tend to ignore and Keijo is no different.

Lets take an example from Shokugeki No Soma – Shokugeki No Soma, used ecchi scenes to express how delicious the food is, The author realized that expressing the deliciousness of a particular food through words won’t be much of an impact. In past anime series experimented with that and they showed characters getting blown away from a bright glow coming from the dish. However such things had impact in past but it won’t have impact in today’s world and hence the stripping and foodgasms scenes were incorporated into Shokugeki No Soma which actually made people think that the food shown in the story is delicious.

Keijo focused on two things from the very start – Originality and Interesting feel, if you consider, girls in Keijo fighting on floating platform using their punches and kicks instead of using their butts and boobs then it won’t make a long lasting impact on viewers. So the key element for making the anime more interesting would have been the overall story of the anime. However at the same time its pretty tough to come up with a complex story, but if you make girl characters fight each other using their butt and boobs then there is no need for a complex story because that alone will make anime absurd, so you just need to utilize that to come up with complex situations and that will make the anime interesting.

Not only that since the fights shown in the anime are unconventional it accomplishes two more things – The unconventional fights make make viewers laugh and at the same time it will make them serious enough to root for their favorite characters. Keijo is pretty straightforward anime with a simple story line which doesn’t need any kind of explanation however the level of absurdity shown in the anime and complex situations utilizing that makes this anime interesting!

Keijo Anime Review – Art & Animation

Without a doubt the art and animation from the Keijo anime was awesome! The anime was carefully animated and since the anime had run-time of 12 episodes it becomes quite obvious.

Keijo Anime Review – Character development & Second Season

The down point of this anime was character development, which was completely overshadowed by the unique concept of this anime. However, it never affected the anime itself and the anime was quite enjoyable. And Keijo won’t be getting second season for a while because total 98 chapters are out and Keijo Anime Season 1 covers 90 Chapters hence we won’t get Keijo season 2 for a while.
