Kono sekai no katasumi ni – When i did the review of this movie, last year, after watching it in Japanese theaters, at the end of the review i did mentioned that “I won’t hesitate to say, that, this movie is better than Kimi no na wa!” and looks like it really happened. Recently, Kono sekai no katasumi ni has won the award for the best Japanese film of 2016 after earning 1 Billion Yen on the box office!!

Kono sekai no katasumi ni also known as In the corner of this world, is another historical film set on bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. But its way different than the “Grave of fireflies” & “Barefoot Gen,” this is a family drama set in the period of World war 2 which depicts the story of a 18 year old housewife named “Suzu,” and her struggles of survival during Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings.

Now the movie received the best Japanese film of 2016, after crossing 1 Billion yen mark. The award was given by Kinema Junpo, who are one of the most respected film critics in Japan. They are active from the year 1919, and it is said that any movie that makes into their top 10 list, is considered as the biggest honor a film can ever receive.
The first anime film was crowned the best Japanese film was in the year 1988 and that film was My Neighbor Totoro. Also the one who directed Kono sekai no katasumi ni movie also received the best director award. This news was revealed by the official twitter account of Kono sekai no katasumi ni.
